Thomson Airways wins the Best Leisure Airline Award at the 2011 World Airline Awards




Thomson Airways was named the World's Best Leisure Airline at the 2011 World Airline Awards, in a ceremony held in the French Air and Space Museum at the Paris Air Show.

The runners-up in this Best Leisure Airline category are Air Transat, taking 2nd place in this category, ahead of Monarch Airlines.

Voted by over 18.8 million airline passengers from 100 different nationalities, the World Airline Awards are the most prestigious quality recognition of front-line product and service standards for the world airline industry. With 200 airlines featured, the awards measure customer satisfaction levels across 38 different items of airline front-line product and service.

Thomson Airways is the world's largest charter airline, offering scheduled and charter flights from the UK to destinations across Europe, Africa, Asia and North America. The company commenced operations on 1 November 2008, following the merger and subsequent re-branding of Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways. Thomson Airways is based in Luton, United Kingdom. The airline offers a wide range of flights to holiday destinations at the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Indian Ocean out of a total of 24 airports across the United Kingdom.

 

AIR TRANSAT

Air Transat is an airline based in Saint-Laurent, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, operating scheduled and charter flights, serving 60 destinations in 25 countries. The airline is owned and operated by Transat A.T. Inc. During the summer season its main destinations are Europe and in the winter season the Caribbean, Mexico, USA and Central America. Its main Canadian gateways are Montréal- Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport and Vancouver International Airport.

MONARCH AIRLINES

Monarch Airlines, often shortened to and trading as Monarch, is a British charter and scheduled airline based on the grounds of London Luton Airport. It is one of the UK's largest charter airlines, operating to Europe, the US, Caribbean, India and Africa, serving mainly leisure destinations. It also operates scheduled flights to many Mediterranean destinations, the Canary Islands, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece and Turkey. It is the oldest UK airline that has not changed its original name. Monarch is one of the largest UK airlines, having carried around 5.8 million passengers during 2010.
